Aims and Scope

 

Journal of Developments in Mass Spectrometry (JDMS) is a peer-reviewed open access journal that focuses on all aspects of modern mass spectrometry. JDMS offers broad coverage of topics related to the development, application, and interpretation of mass spectrometry-related techniques, including proteomics, metabolomics, isotope ratio measurements, and other areas of chemical and biochemical research. The journal is dedicated to advancing the field of mass spectrometry and to providing quality and timely information to researchers in the field. 

 

JDMS provides a platform for researchers to present a broad range of information on topics such as, but not limited to, instrumentation, data analysis and interpretation, sample preparation and isolation techniques, ionization sources, and novel applications. The journal's aim is to provide an international platform for exchanging ideas and experiences on topics related to mass spectrometry and to promote research, development, and application of new methods, techniques, and instrumentation. JDMS publishes original research papers, comprehensive reviews, and short communications. The journal emphasizes novel and state-of-the-art technologies utilizing mass spectrometry in the fields of proteomics, metabolomics, environmental genomics, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, biomolecules, and materials characterization. 

 

The scope of the journal includes the fundamental principles, theory, and application of mass spectrometry in the fields of biochemistry, bioinformatics, biotechnology, environmental science, forensics, genetics, material sciences, metabolomics, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals, proteomics, sample preparation, instrumental development and improvement; data analysis, modeling, and interpretation; applications in the fields of physics, chemistry, environmental sciences, and biology, as well as new and emerging technologies. JDMS broadly covers the application of mass spectrometry in areas including clinical proteomics, biomarkers discovery, drug metabolism, food safety, and quality control, biochemistry, biotechnology, complex structure elucidation, biosensing, and metabolomics. 

 

The journal focuses on new and emerging technology developments related to novel applications of theoretical, experimental, and practical aspects of mass spectrometry. Covering a wide array of topics including the development of hardware and software systems, data analysis, organic and inorganic mass spectrometry, tandem mass spectrometry, ion activation, ion trap memory analysis, non-targeted and targeted analysis, as well as hyphenated systems.
