Overview01

Membership and ordinary submission

Journal of Otolaryngology Advances publishes clinical, surgical, translational and basic research in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. Authors may submit without membership, and readers may access published articles without joining.

Membership arrangements may include article processing charge reductions under the agreed plan. Before joining, compare the membership fee and covered services with the ordinary charges for the manuscripts you expect to submit.

Terms03

Establish the coverage before joining

  • Eligible authors, manuscript categories and journals covered by the agreement
  • The membership term, start date and any article allowance
  • How fee reductions apply after a manuscript is accepted
  • Included administrative or preparation services and any additional charges
  • Renewal conditions and treatment of remaining entitlements

Any language-editing or manuscript-preparation service included in an agreement is separate from editorial assessment and does not influence the review outcome.

Review04

The same editorial standards apply

Membership, payment, institutional participation and commercial sponsorship do not influence peer review or acceptance. Every manuscript follows the same editorial assessment process, regardless of membership status.

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.

Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
