Overview
Structural biology is an interdisciplinary field of science that focuses on understanding the physical structures of biological macromolecules. These macromolecules, such as proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates, form the basis of all living organisms. By studying their structures, scientists can better understand how they interact with each other and their environment, and gain insights into how diseases work and how they can be treated.
