Three routes lead to the same editorial office at Journal of Water and to the same assessment. Choose the one that suits you, and keep a manuscript on that single route.

The publisher’s submission system. It carries the manuscript, the files and the declarations, and tracks the submission through screening, review and decision.
- Alternative route Simple manuscript submission form
A short web form that sends the manuscript to the editorial office with this journal already selected. A good choice if you would rather send the files directly.
- Assisted route Editorial email — [email protected]
Write to the editorial office and a member of staff will take the submission through for you. Useful for a first submission, or where a file or a declaration needs discussing.
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript. One route keeps a single record moving through screening, review and decision.
Article types
Routine article types: Research Article; Review Article; Systematic Review and Meta-analysis; Methods Article; Data/Resource Article; Short Communication; Case Study.
Invitation-only formats: Editorial — invitation only; Perspective/Commentary — invitation only.
Ready to submit
A submission is complete when the manuscript, its files and its declarations arrive together. The full requirements are on the Instructions for Authors page.
- Manuscript, figures and tables, with supplementary material as separate labeled files.
- Title page with all authors, affiliations and the corresponding author’s contact address.
- Abstract and keywords.
- Data-availability statement. Every empirical research manuscript must include a data-availability statement.
- Ethics approval and consent where the research involves human participants or animals; trial registration details where the work is an interventional clinical trial.
- Funding and competing-interest declarations.
- An anonymized reviewer copy if you are requesting double-blind review.
What happens next
Screening, review and decision
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.

Editorial decisions rest with the handling editor and the reviewers, and remain independent of fees, membership, and editorial or reviewing roles.
Submission and peer review are free to authors, and the published article is free to read. The article processing charge becomes payable once a manuscript has been accepted, and a request for fee relief is assessed separately from review.
