Where the Journal of Human Psychology is registered, harvested, discoverable and preserved — and what each of those relationships does and does not mean.

This page describes JHP's identifiers, DOI registration, metadata harvesting, scholarly discovery and digital preservation, with links to the relevant records.
These services have distinct functions. An ISSN identifies a journal, a DOI identifies a scholarly work, discovery services help readers find research, and preservation archives support long-term access. None of these functions alone establishes selection by a curated journal index.
Six kinds of relationship
The table below is the shape of the rest of the page. Each row names one kind of relationship, what it establishes, and the thing it is most often mistaken for.
- Journal identifiersRegistration
- A permanent number that names the journal itself, so a catalog or a citation can refer to it unambiguously. Not an assessment of the journal, and not an index.
- DOI registrationDeposit
- A permanent identifier for each article, with its metadata deposited so the article resolves and can be cited. Not indexing. A DOI says an article has been registered, not that any database has selected it.
- Metadata harvestingExposure
- A machine-readable feed any service may collect from, which is how most aggregators acquire records in the first place. Not a relationship with any particular service. It makes collection possible; it does not establish that it happened.
- Discovery servicesCoverage
- Open catalogs and academic search tools that gather scholarly records broadly and make them searchable. Not selective indexing. Inclusion follows from collection, not from editorial evaluation of the journal.
- Journal-level indexingSelection
- A curated database that evaluates a journal against published criteria and then decides whether to cover it. Not the same as any of the four above, and the only one of them that represents a judgment about the journal.
- Digital preservationCustody
- An independent archive that keeps a copy of the content so it survives independently of the publisher. Not a discovery or indexing service. A preservation archive is not searched by readers; it exists so the record cannot be lost.
Journal identifiers
The journal is registered with the electronic ISSN 2644-1101. The ISSN is the identifier libraries, catalogs and citation databases use to refer to the journal itself, and it is what makes a reference to Journal of Human Psychology resolvable to this journal and not to a similarly titled one.
Authors are encouraged to supply an ORCID iD, which identifies the person rather than the journal and stays with them across affiliations. Board members' ORCID iDs are published on the editorial board page where they have been supplied.

DOI registration
Every article published in the journal is registered with Crossref under the DOI prefix 10.14302. The DOI is the citable link to the version of record: author, title, volume, issue, page range and license metadata are deposited with it, so the article resolves permanently and any service that reads Crossref can acquire the record.
Submissions are screened with Crossref Similarity Check, powered by iThenticate, which is a service of the same registration agency and a separate matter from DOI deposit.
Metadata harvesting
The publisher runs an OAI-PMH endpoint, the standard protocol by which aggregators, repositories and library discovery layers collect metadata. This journal's records are exposed as their own set, so a harvester can collect the journal on its own rather than filtering the whole publisher.
Each article page also publishes structured citation metadata in the format that citation-indexing services read, alongside the Crossref deposit. Both are ways of making the record available for collection.
Discovery services
These are open catalogs and academic search services that hold a record for this journal. They acquire records broadly, from Crossref deposits and metadata feeds, so coverage here reflects collection rather than an editorial judgment about the journal.

Coverage in a discovery service is not indexing, and it is not stable in the way a registration is: services add and reprocess records continuously. That is why this page gives the date the status was checked rather than a figure for how much is held.
Selective journal-level indexing
Selective indexing is the one relationship on this page that represents an assessment of the journal. A curated database publishes criteria — editorial standards, publication practice, metadata quality, and often a period of continuous publication — evaluates a journal against them, and decides whether to cover it. Coverage can also be withdrawn.
Journal-level indexing is distinct from DOI registration, metadata harvesting, discovery and preservation. The service descriptions on this page identify those specific functions without implying selection by a journal index.
Digital preservation
This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.
PubMed Central deposit for NIH-funded work
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS).
This is a route available to an author for a particular manuscript, under the terms of their funding. It is a deposit made by or for the author under the terms of their funding, and it does not establish journal-level indexing in any database.
