How much time should I allocate per manuscript?
Expect to spend 1–2 hours evaluating each manuscript (initial assessment, reviewer selection, decision letter), plus 30–45 minutes reviewing revisions. Workload is adjusted based on availability.
Can I decline assignments?
Yes. Editors may decline due to conflicts of interest or workload constraints. We appreciate prompt declines so manuscripts can be reassigned quickly.
Do editors pay APCs for their own publications?
Editors receive a 50% APC waiver for one accepted submission per year and discounted membership options for additional articles.
Is there a term limit?
Appointments are typically renewed annually. Editors may transition between roles or take sabbaticals by notifying the editorial office.
Can industry leaders apply?
Absolutely. We welcome R&D leads, regulatory experts, and biotech entrepreneurs, provided conflicts of interest are disclosed for each assignment.
