Publish Within a Themed Research Collection
Special issues bring together leading research on focused themes such as maternal health equity, fertility innovation, or reproductive oncology.
All special issue submissions follow the same editorial standards as regular submissions.
Review active calls on the Ongoing Special Issue page to confirm scope fit and deadlines.
Follow the Instructions for Authors and align with reporting guidelines such as CONSORT, PRISMA, or STROBE when applicable.
Submit through ManuscriptZone or the submission form. Mention the special issue title in your cover letter.
- Cover letter noting the special issue title and relevance.
- Ethics approvals and consent statements for human participant research.
- Data availability statement and repository links where required.
- Complete author affiliations and ORCID identifiers.
Special issues typically welcome original research, systematic reviews, case series, methods papers, and policy analyses that align with the theme. If your manuscript is a perspective or brief report, indicate the format in your cover letter so the editorial team can route it correctly.
Special issue manuscripts undergo editorial screening and peer review. Guest editors may recommend reviewers, but the journal maintains final decision authority to ensure quality and consistency.
Authors should respond to reviewer comments point by point and clearly highlight revisions. If additional data or analyses are requested, note any limitations in your response letter.
Special issue timelines may be more structured than regular submissions. Please monitor deadlines listed in the call for papers and plan for revisions within the requested timeframe. Delays can affect the sequencing of the collection.
Ensure that ethics approvals, consent documentation, and data availability statements are complete before submission. For clinical studies, include registry identifiers when applicable. Data policies are outlined on the Data Archiving Permissions page.
- Scope mismatch with the special issue theme.
- Missing ethics approval or consent statements.
- Incomplete data availability statement.
- Formatting that does not follow the author instructions.
APCs are applied after acceptance in the same manner as regular submissions. Discount or waiver considerations are handled by the editorial office based on eligibility and funding context.
Accepted articles are published online as soon as final proofs are approved.
The editorial team provides guidance on formatting, data sharing, and language clarity. Authors may also use the Language Editing Service to strengthen readability before review.
